Body Building Equipment
Body building equipment can be quite the investment if the plan is to purchase some equipment for the home. This equipment goes far beyond the traditional weight bench in the garage. There is really some high tech equipment out on the market now.
The Basics
There are some basic must have items for a home gym.
- Power rack
- Weights
- Dumbbells
- Barbells
- Bench
The Power Rack will allow the home bodybuilder to work out solo without having to have a spotter there, this is a fairly large piece of equipment but really will wind up being one of the best investments for a body builders home gym.
Weights are obviously a necessity for a body builders home gym. There are several different kinds of weights, rubber coated (will help to protect the floor), plastic filled weights (this tend to break) and iron weights (the most expensive). A home gym for body building obviously cannot function without weights, the type of weights and the cost is up to the individual.
Dumbbells are also a necessity for the body builders home gym. Again there are different types that vary in cost and it is at the discretion of the individual as to what type and how much they wish to spend.
Barbells will be needed for the body builders home gym and can be relatively inexpensive. A bench is a requirement for the body builders home gym and should be something that is stable and built well.
A bodybuilders home gym should also include a weight belt, gloves and straps for safety and to prevent injuries. Floor mats also should be added to the home gym for ab work.
There is other equipment that is not quite as necessary as the foregoing, but would be nice to have:
- Cardio equipment
- Micro weights (these can be home made)
- Cable pulley system
- Rowers
- Roman chairs
- Seated calf machine
All of this equipment is nice to have but is not a necessity, the basics will do just fine with a little ingenuity and effort.
The most important machine for the home gym is the body that is going to be using it. Fueling the body machine at home should be no different than going to the gym. Diet and nutrition is the most basic requirement for the human machine. Protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats in the right doses keep the human machine moving along. Supplements in the form of protein, carbohydrates and vitamin packs will make sure that the human machine stays well oiled and able to function.
Weight training at home is convenient and can be a supplement to trips to the gym or it can be used alone to build the body.
