Muscle nutrition is a buzz word in body building. It refers to the macro nutrients that promote muscle growth. What Are Muscles Made Of? Muscles are made of muscle tissue. The building blocks for muscle tissue are proteins. Proteins synthesize to produce muscle tissue. Each time a muscle is ripped through weight training or resistance training muscle tissue is manufactured by the body to repair it. The signals that the muscle needs to be repaired is sent via hormones. The cellular activity that produces the muscle tissue is fueled by carbohydrates. How to Feed the Muscles Feeding the muscles is done through diet and supplements. Muscle nutrition is a diet and supplement regime that is focused on providing the body with the macro nutrients that it needs to insure adequate muscle growth. Diet is the first line of action. For a body builder it is recommended that the diet is broke down as follows: Meals should be eaten through out the course of the day. Instead of three meals there should be six meals every few hours. Meals alone may not provide all the muscle nutrition that the body needs so the use of supplements in recommended. Supplements Protein and Carbohydrate supplements are recommended. Protein supplements can be taken by mouth in the form of a drink or a protein bar. Protein supplements are meant to increase the protein levels in the body, protein in the building block of muscles and it is thought that protein is a very important part of muscle nutrition. Carbohydrate supplements also come in the form of drinks and bars. Carbohydrates is the bodies fuel it is what keeps the energy level up and moves the cells through out the body. Carbohydrates are another important part of muscle nutrition. Muscle nutrition is an important part of body building, feeding the muscles allows the muscles to regenerate more efficiently. The results will be bigger leaner muscle mass. Following a weight training/resistance training model will not be sufficient the muscles need to be fed appropriate amounts of protein and carbohydrates to work efficiently.
